Sprawled out all over the web are hundreds and thousands of DIYs. You’d have seen some crazy ones in your day, but I doubt if you have ever come across something this crazy. SteevAtBlueDust has put up an interesting creation over on Instructables that costs a hell lot of money (and I’m talking quite literally). He’s managed to glue together a chess set that’s entirely money. Yup, tagged as “The World’s Most Expensive Chess Set”, this one uses notes to make the board and for the pieces it has coins glued together. A whimsical idea to the core, the money chess set (if I may call it that) has special names for the two sides; instead of the regular black and white, this board has “heads” and “tails” as the opponents. The coins that have been glued to represent different pieces have been given due consideration. As a result Pawn gets represented with a single penny, Rook with nine 2p coins, Queen with six £1 coins, King with seven coins of £1 each & one £2 coin, and so on for other pieces. The exact amount to build this thing is £2,402.68, so it is rather difficult to try hand at this DIY unless one is rolling in cash. SteevAtBlueDust advises one to rob a bank if necessary, but I’d refrain. All in all this is a very amusing and eccentric DIY.
